About the Event
Learn to make fresh and delicious dishes. This month we learn to make homemade pet treats. Peanut Butter Apple Dog Treats are sure to make your four legged friends happy. This recipe is quick, easy to make, and a healthier alternative to store bought items! Learn to make a healthy and super tasty treat our pets are sure to love!
Peanut Butter Apple Dog Treats:
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (or any other flour substitute regular flour or almond etc.)
3/4 cup rolled oats or quick oats
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup unsweetened apple sauce
2 eggs
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Cooking Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
- Mix Biscuit Dough. In a large bowl, mix together all of the ingredients until incorporated. The dough will be pretty stiff and should stick to itself. If you need to adjust the consistency, add more water or flour, one tablespoon at a time.
- Roll Dough + Cut Biscuits. Dust your flat work surface and rolling pin with whole wheat flour. Roll out your dough until it’s 1/3″ to 1/4″ thick – I prefer mine thin so they bake faster. Use a cookie cutter lightly dipped in flour to cut the biscuits. Place them on the lined parchment paper about 1/2″ apart (they don’t expand or rise much). Re-roll the scraps and cut biscuits until you run out.
- Bake the biscuits for 30-40 minutes (varies depending on how thick yours are) until stiff to the touch but tender in the middle. The biscuits won’t be overly crisp. Cool them completely before feeding them to your pup! To store, keep them in an airtight container for up to 5 days or in a zip-top bag in the freezer for weeks.
